I'm working on this painting about a boy who is in the freezer of a restaurant eating all the food.  I'm taking a break from it for a few days because I'm running into a lot of problems with it.  A lot of things are becoming hard to read and things aren't pushing and pulling the way they should be.  To be continued...      any suggestions?

  1. shadows and highlights are pretty much the best way to show depth and draw attention to where you want the viewer to look. also the darker the shadow the closer the object,to push a shadow back you might want to add a tint of blue to it. also You can see what I'm talking about in Eric Joyners work

  2. 3 words- LIMITED COLOR PALETTE.
Def put more detail on the little boy since I'm assuming he is the first thing you want the viewer to see. The pig is painted pretty well and it shows since it was the first thing I saw. Also I don't know whats going on with the boy's face. Is he chewing something? Is that his hand?
I like how the containers to the left of the boy are done. They're not over rendered but I can still tell what they are and they dont attract too much attention.

  4. I think the only thing the guys left out is the clarity of the story being told. Iono what the boy's thinking or who he's suppose to be. Did he plan to sneak into the kitchen to eat the ice cream or was this an innocent adventure that ended up getting locked in the freezer? Is his eyes wide cause he got caught getting the gelato? Is this the best moment of his life, or just one of many crazy escapades. It needs to show.
